Like an emergency contact? It wouldn't hurt...
OK, who should I go to?
I suppose I should be grateful that I don't have to formally introduce you to him.
How did you like him?
no subject
[And indeed, a profile card soon pops up.]
He seemed appropriately suspicious of me. Did you really spend a period living in his basement?
no subject
Unusual name. I'll be sure to remember it.
Out of curiosity, what does he do?
I had my own apartment at the time, you understand... but he had an entire laboratory he wasn't using in his basement.
What else was I supposed to do?
[ NOT move in?? Don't be ridiculous. ]
no subject
[HE OWNS A BAR, EDGEWORTH but that counts, that's a business, let him frame things the way he wants to.]
I'm sorry, so you're saying you already had an apartment, and you abandoned it to live in the man's basement?
no subject
[ And she wants to meet Edgeworth's close personal male friend!! She needs deets. ]
His basement laboratory, yes.
You should've seen it, Mr. Edgeworth. It was so big. So fresh. ✨ So pristine! ✨ Hardly a fingerprint to be found.
He wasn't using it, so it was my duty to take care of it.
You understand, don't you??

[area man describes bar while refusing to use the word bar]
I fear I understand all too well, actually. I hope he proved to be a satisfactory landlord.
no subject
I knew your inner scientist would get it. :)
Looking back, he was a great landlord... if you could even call him that.
He never asked for payment, or much of anything really.
[ Except for that one time he asked her not to use the kitchen to make Snackoos. She swiftly ignored him. ]
If anything, he's probably spoiled me a bit too much.
He's a bit gruff around the edges, but he's always been a gentleman where it counts.
It would mean a lot to me if you could try to get along with him!
no subject
Ah, well. I think that's more his decision than mine, frankly. But I have no desire to make your life harder, so it's not as though I'd go out of my way to be antagonistic.
no subject
Perfectly sufficient, I'd say. The sheer amount of material I have to study up on if I want to be up for a job can feel a bit overwhelming, but I'll be ready.
Oh, I've been able to hitch rides to some crime scenes lately! (/^▽^)/
The police were playing hard to get for a while, but they're all pushovers, really.
You may not be antagonistic outside of the courtroom, but I do wonder sometimes...
Now that I think about it, I think I've only ever seen you hanging out with Mr. Gumshoe and Kay.
[ Edgeworth?? Where are your friends?? Also Larry Who ]
no subject
I wouldn't have guessed that Franziska would tolerate a nickname at all, much less one so...playful.
[There was a lot more to respond to than just that, obviously, but let's get right to the most important thing here.]
no subject
[ Just as she sends that, she remembers.......... that perhaps Edgeworth at this point in time may be younger than she thinks of him. He's always had such a mature (read: old) air that he in his twenties is nearly indistinguishable from him in his thirties. Sometimes, she has to really examine the lines around his face to be sure.
uuhhHHHM. Is she going to cause some sort of timeline blooper if she tries to explain Kay to him...? ]
You know, it's not that important. Forget I ever mentioned her.
no subject
Don't think I'll let you backpedal out of giving testimony so easily, Miss Skye. Who is this "Kay Faraday" to me, exactly?
no subject
You two seemed as thick as thieves.
Incidentally, she said she was training to become an "unstoppable great thief". She seemed pretty serious about it...
I didn't ask too many questions, honestly. I figured you were acting as her guardian.
[ Why else would Edgeworth hang out with a teenaged girl long-term?? Kay seemed like a fun friend, but even Ema can acknowledge that Edgeworth is not a man who seeks out friends for fun. ]
no subject
Though I suppose you of all people might have some insight into that, hm?
no subject
Well you've indeed come to the right person! ❤
Though I don't think it's that cryptic a notion. You're composed, you're competent, and all sorts of interesting things happen around you.
You wouldn't find it so strange if a kid wanted to hang out with Herlock Sholmes, would you?
no subject
Oh, is that how I compare? On par with Herlock Sholmes, really.
no subject
Though if it were Mr. Wright's ducklings vs. Mr. Gumshoe, I would have to put my money on Mr. Wright.
"The Adventures of Miles Edgeworth" does have a nice ring to it!
The only thing you might be missing is proficiency in an obscure martial art.
[ The very thought of Edgeworth doing martial arts is a fascinating one (for better or for worse), but the man has to do SOMETHING to earn those shoulders of his. ]
